Synopsis
The book is based on the literature data and the author’s own experience as a cardiologist of the International Program for the Population-Based examination for IHD and leading risk factors, which was conducted in Moscow, Leningrad and several US cities. The book uses materials on the epidemiology of noncommunicable diseases, collected in modern world literature. The principles of population screening, the methods of epidemiological examination of the population for atherosclerosis, arterial hypertension and their clinical manifestations are described. The book differentiates the concepts of the population and clinical norms, analyzes the possibilities of primary prevention of these diseases at the population level and the ways of secondary prevention of complications in an individual approach.
